Every activity or job MUST have at it’s core the ability to convey to the young adult their significance, value, importance in the lives of others. Our young adults MUST be able to BELIEVE that they are important, not just be told but by our actions (trusting them to make a difference in our world). Us older adults need to really LISTEN to the young adults in our world. they see things from a different perspective and maybe they are “rebelling” because they are SO DISILLUSIONED by the so called realities of life, their dreams, their hopes, after all it seems hopeless to most Americans so we go on living in denial -buying more STUFF to fill the void we have due to the lack of significance we have made.oh what a sad state we are in…..BUT GOD ONLY GOD can rescue us, deliver us, give us hope, purpose, a future!! our YOUNG ADULTS MUST be given PURPOSE and VALUE…..REGARDLESS of what we think, how we view them, or even what ever trouble they may get themselves into. just some thoughts……..all the supplies would be donated, gleaned from freecycle.com, craigslist.org, or wherever. For those young adults who like to craft: • hand designing, sewing, embroidering custom purses, dolls, jewelry for little girls in shelters, hospitals, homeless, etc. • designing small shelves, custom painted for boys and girls in shelters, homeless, etc. • maybe even unique clothing – on clean used clothes add creative patches and decor to be worn again rather than tossed.
• a neighborhood garden – veggies, fruit, flowers. All to be given to street people, poor, elderly, sick, those in nursing homes (a bouquet of flowers)
For those who aren’t really thrilled about crafts:
• reading to homeless children
• tutoring
